General Manager - Portland
The General Manager is the on-site leader of Hopscotch Portland and represents the company with all guests, local team members, and corporate team. The General Manager is responsible for consistently delivering results that contribute to the success of day-to-day operations (exhibitions, admissions, guest services, retail, F&B, events and overall venue management) and our Hopscotch Corporate vision. A successful candidate loves to work with people, demonstrates flexibility to support their team and is truly committed to helping staff achieve professional and organizational goals while working quickly, efficiently and enthusiastically in a high-volume, high-paced environment.
The General Manager is responsible for driving and auditing all areas of the business and sets the tone for the team, including leadership. The GM must have regular weekend availability and be excited to work in a creative and collaborative environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage and direct departmental leaders and hourly staff members alike.
- Oversee operations to ensure a safe, comfortable, unique, and memorable experience for all
- guests.
- Execute and report on monthly goals set in partnership with ownership.
- Assist project manager with exhibition maintenance, development, and fabrication when
- necessary.
- Work with the corporate team to develop and execute day-to-day operational plans.
- Oversee onsite management and ensure proper use and control of installations, operating expectations and equipment.
- Work with HR and local agencies to ensure all licenses are up to date and properly audited.
- Oversee payroll and ensure accuracy for all team members. Follow company policies on
- employee performance reviews and ensure that they are completed on a timely basis.
- Understand, maintain and implement policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs and adjust as necessary with company evolution.
- Respond to and field private event leads to help oversee group event bookings to ensure guest satisfaction. Sell the event and see it through to completion including planning, executing and managing the events after they have been sold.
- Control payments and other receipts by adhering to payment handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Work across all departments in supporting the team in consistent creation and execution of all systems and processes to consistently deliver services to brand standards.
- Serve as a liaison between Hopscotch and the Portland community. Represent Hopscotch in a professional manner at all times.
- Maintain rigorous corporate standards in aesthetics, guest experience, personnel management, and all other aspects of the business to create a positive and consistent guest experience from start to finish.
- Continually develop strategies and implementation plans to improve and standardize all aspects of operations and the guest experience.
- Empower as well as hold the team accountable to provide an exemplary level of guest service at all touch points of the operation.

- Engage and entertain visitors and help to enhance their experience.
