Lounge

Grab a seat. Let your eyes wander. Darel Carey’s painted lines bring a different kind of movement to the Hopscotch Los Angeles lounge and daiquiri bar.

Look across the room, then look again from somewhere else. Repeated lines and small changes in spacing create patterns that seem to bend, ripple and move as your perspective changes.

The lounge mural is a painted work by Los Angeles artist Darel Carey. His practice starts with simple elements and builds toward something more complex: a flat surface that feels full of depth, a familiar room that asks you to see it differently. Take your time with it. There is more than one way to look.

About the artist

Los Angeles artist Darel Carey makes repeated lines do unexpected things. Through tape installations, painted murals and digital art, he turns simple patterns into an invitation to look again. At Hopscotch LA, his work appears on the building exterior and in the lounge.
