Our Portland gallery has a role in Twinless, the dark comedy written and directed by James Sweeney, starring Sweeney, Dylan O’Brien and Aisling Franciosi. A place built for people to explore art together becomes part of a story about grief, connection and an unexpected friendship.
If you know Hopscotch, there is something special about seeing a familiar space through a filmmaker’s eyes. The light, color and scale take on another life on screen.
A moment of high drama
In her review for RogerEbert.com, film critic Christy Lemire singles out the gallery while discussing how Sweeney’s visual choices serve the story:
These include long tracking shots, thoughtful use of split screen, and the inspired choice of the colorful Hopscotch immersive art experience in Portland for a moment of high drama.
Watch the trailer below, watch on Hulu or find the film on Apple TV, or explore the exhibits linked here: Unknown Atmospheres, GAZE and Diodic Daydream, our illuminated ball pit. Seeing them on a screen and stepping inside them are two different experiences. We love being part of both.
